"What it means to be a Mount Vernon football player is to be completly commited to one of the greatest teams you will ever play for. Its a responsibiilty and a commitment few will be able to have at the high school level. Its a family that will never leave your side no matter what, but you need to provide for your family and that comes on the football field with practices and games as well as in the school with your grades," John Butz.
"What a great young man John is, he is very coachable and a pleasure to be around. Each day John comes to practice ready to get better and help his teammates. He has done a real nice job for us taking over the left tackle position. John is a very hard worker on and off the field and I look forward to watching him succeed in life as he has done on the game field," Head Coach Lance Pedersen.
