Connor holds several records for the Mustang including, career receptions (160), receiving yards (2,254), and touchdowns (27). Connor was an all-state Elite selection and was selected to play in the Iowa Shrine Bowl his senior year.
We recently sent Connor a questionaire on his Mustang Football experience and now his South Dakota experience.
What was your most memorable Mustang Football Experience: "I'd say my most memorable moments were definitely playing in the dome for the semi-final and championship game. Also, all of the support around the community and everyone chipping in to do their part to help the team was amazing.
What is college football like? College football is very demanding and the level of effort and dedication needed to perform well is extremely high. But at the same time, my teammates and coaches are also my best friends and I love spending time with them.
Tell us about South Dakota: As far as football and academics, USD is awesome. The coaches are extremely smart easy to get along with. nThe players are hard working and fun to hang out with. Also, the academic buildings are modern and most of my classes have taught me a lot so far.
Advice to players? My advice to future players is to enjoy your time in high school with some of your best friends. Try to make the most of each day or each practice because really flies by. Learn as much as you can from older players and give as much effort as possible.
Future Plans? As of now I'm majoring in Exercise Science with the plan of going into physical therapy.
Season Outlook? We should be really good this year. There are a lot of older, experienced guys on the team that'll lead us. Then there are plenty of younger guys that will do good things for us.
"Connor Herrmann was a great leader for us on and off the field. He was a multiple sport athlete and an amazing receiver and excelled in the classroom. He was and is a true role model for our future players. He will do amazing things at South Dakota. I am excited to watch Connor as he takes on new life challenges and gets better in all that he does. Connor represents what we want Mount Vernon Football Players to be." Head Coach Lance Pedersen said.
In his first year as a South Dakota Coyote, Connor received a redshirt, during that time he was named offensive scout team player of the week 4 times. He also made the MVFC Conference Honor Roll.
Note: South Dakota travels to the state of Iowa when the Coyotes take on the Drake Bulldogs on September 2 and Northern Iowa on November 4.
