Assistant Coach Haddy was very pleased with how the boys played on Friday night. “On the defensive side, I thought we played pretty well. We installed some new looks during the week and our kids did a nice job of executing those looks. I thought we did a good job taking away the things that Northeast wanted to do. Our kids played with tremendous energy throughout, which was a lot of fun to watch.”
Mount Vernon averaged 7 yards per offensive possession. “The game went well, and was a great start to our season,” Junior Ian Bootsmiller gives his opinion on how the game went overall. I think we could’ve established the run game more, because we relied on the pass game most of the time. Our defense did really well and was dominant most of the game.”
This Friday September 18 Mount Vernon plays host to the Camanche Indians. This will be homecoming for the Mustangs and the night will feature several neat events. Between the JV and Varsity game the 1993 and 1994 State Championship teams will be recognized.
