Move the Chains

April 3, 2015 — 4:34pm CDT

The sticks being picked up and the chain links lifting off the ground defines offensive success. The goal of every offensive squad is to move the chains all game long. A team that accomplishes this task usually wins plenty of games. The chains moving on game day comes from much preparation in the off season. It comes from repeating the same drills over and over and over again at in-season practices until those drills become second nature. Moving the chains comes from studying film to see what works on a particular team's defense. It takes much effort during the offseason and during the season to move those chains on game day. That maximum effort is so worth it when the chains move and you're imposing your will on a defense.

The same thing applies to life. Don't expect immediate success in anything you pursue - a better body, a job with more money, a college degree. Anything worth attaining takes the same effort that an offensive team puts into moving the chains on game day. It's great to move the chains during our football days. When your football days are over you will realize that its even greater to move the chains of life. Until then keep imposing your will on every defense.
